My father worked for McDonnell Douglas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.   My mom, brother and I lived there from 1980-1989.  I was born in 1970.  If there are any people from that era on this chat.  We would love to reconnect.  Unfortunately my father died there in Riyadh in 1989

Was at Dhahran, King Abdul Aziz Air Base from '81-'84.  Lived at MD-9 (compound) in Al-Khobar.  I noticed in the In Memory section one of my bosses, Dallas Sherron, base training manager in Dhahran - took over from Harold Buescher when he rotated back home to STL. Wow.  Such memories.  Our elder daughter was almost 1 year old when we (I) went there.  She was officially 1 when she and my wife were allowed to join me.  Our younger daughter was born there, at Sheik Al Mana Hospital.

October 1986- August 2011, I had the time of my life in Khamis Mushayt. I worked for Pratt & Whitney assigned to the engine Hush House at KKAB. I loved my job and sometimes I wish I had never left. I move to Taif in 2012 for a short time, started having knee problems, and returned to the US for surgery. Now I live in Clovis New Mexico with my wife Elsa and daughter Apolline, been here since June of 2013...

Hi, I'm not sure this is the  right site but it's the closest I can find. im trying to find out more about the Lockheed compound in Dhahan and where it was located? My father was Ned (Ted) Geehan and he worked for Lockheed in Saudi for many years. Riyad for the majority of the time but then Dhahan. I spent a month there with him and my mother in 82 or 83. I have amazing memories of the compound with its pool and the squash court but I don't have many photos. Anything Lockheed in Dhahan would be much appreciated

I worked and lived in Khamis from 1976 until late 1979. I was base technician, and for one year. I was an artist in the graphic arts department. My wife Vicki and I, along with our kids, Tim and Shelly, enjoyed our times with the many great people that made up our community. After leaving Saudi, I earned a Master degree. I taught and then retired from Boise State University. Today I live in China. I have an art gallery and teach Chinese kids English. It's nice to have this site, and the opportunity to communicate with our past friends.

Hi everyone I'm John Wysong and was in Saudi with my wife Pat and our kids Julie and Jason. First in Taif from 82 til 84 when I drove over to Daharan and stayed until 12/87.  I was an APG instructor, played baseball, bowling, snorkeled and camped south of Jeddah, and drove to the crater north of Taif.  Watched Halley's Comet from Half Moon Bay (USMTM Yacht Club) rode a camel and got chased by baboons near King Solomon's mines.  Getting stuck in my Diahatsu jeep on top of a steep ridge,  and oh yes turning it over.  What a great time now that I can look back on it.  The gold souks, food bazaars, sand roses, and exploring.  Great time, great fun, great friends, and great memories.

Hello expats,
I was at King Khalid Air Base with both Northrop and McDonnell Douglas Services, during the 1980 decade, for a total of six non-consecutive years.
I enjoyed reading the comments.  Kenneth Sargent and I worked together at King Khalid.
If I may, I would appreciate learning if any employees from 1983 forward, who was administered the anthrax vacine at MDS St Louis and took the anti-Malaria tablets, as directed, suffered any mental or physical problems.
Moreover, from the comments, I learned a number of former employees had died from carcinoma cell cancer.  In this light, several years past, I learned a fellow employee, Ernest Thompson, had expired for which I wondered what was the cause of death.
You may or may not agree with my purpose but I want our country to cease in sending Americans to die or be exposed to toxic substances for a barrel of oil.
Thank you.

With respect, I remain.

Hello to all that served in Saudi Arabia with McDonnell Douglas Services. If possible I would like response to two question: 1.  Did MDS personnel remain at the F-15 Squadron under Saudi leadership at the arrival of the USAF? 2.  Does anyone know if former members have been diagnoised with Gulf War Syndrome, Muscular Disease, and any other medical ailment due to employment in the Kingdom. I appreciate your input as I've been diagnoised with a muscle disease and have all the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome. Thanks and good luck. With respect, I remain. I found this site just by chance, wish I had found it sooner.
Crew Chief trainer at Dhahran 82-83 and Taif 83-84 - RIF\'ed.  Used my savings and 2 years time to get my A&P licenses and associate degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Univ. in Daytona Beach. Immediatey hired by BASI (Beechcraft 86-91) to maintain US Army U-21 and C-12 (King Air TurboProps) at Fort Meade, MD and Fort Belvior, VA.
Volunteered to go with 2 of the C-12s in support of Desert Shield/Storm for 6 months and heard about a new MDS program.
Phase Dock trainer at Khamis (91-93) and wanted to stay longer.  However, after dropping off my passport at Gov. Rel. after my latest vacation I was taken aside and told that I was being given "The freedom to explore employment opportunities elsewhere in the aviation industry" with 2 weeks notice. Nice.
Came back, worked at a local FBO and decided on a career change, got NetWare, Microsoft and Cisco training and have been working in IT ever since.
Probably not well known for being a people person I have gotten better at it and got married for the first time almost 3 years ago.
See my Facebook profile fo more info.
Hope to hear about another reunion real soon.

Greetings from snowy North Texas. Lived in Riyadh briefly, then most of my time in Taif. Went to Taif Academy 4th through 6th grade. Seen a few names I remember, and it takes me back to the  craziness of MT 1, MT 6, trips down the escarpment to Jeddah to Safeway, souking, falafels, schwarmas, and all things haggled for.

I hope everyone from my time is doing well, healthy, and happy! Drop me a line at cuinn_73@yahoo.com, let me know!

Hi,all. Many of you knew me as "Kramer".
I lived in Khamis-Mushait at PS-1 from Jun97 to Oct02.
I worked in 55th/Brown flight as a jet engine guy.
...and resident mechanical genius.....
I was also very noisy at home as well, playing my drums.
I was that bonehead who hosted many loud, "brown"-fueled,late-night jam sessions in my home. I sometimes think I shoulda had my head examined...or maybe just a swift kick in the butt.
To all of my former neighbors:
My apologies.
Those are times that I\'ll always treasure.
I\'m also over on that social network face place....
Look me up. Drop me a line. I love to hear from old friends.

[Khamis 98-01]  Ok...so I've been on this site for over an hour now getting caught up on everyone that posted something. We are still living in southeast TX. Nathan is a project manager for Worley Parsons, I am an elementary computer teacher, Gabriel is in 9th grade, Braden is in 7th grade and Noelle(Nellybean) is in 5th grade. Both boys play tournament baseball year round (and pretty good if I may say so myself...Gabriel is already being looked at by 2 colleges with LSU being one of them), Noelle takes dance and Nathan and I run the roads after them :) When we lived in Saudi, I remember distinctly telling Nathan how much I missed the "busy-ness" of life back in the US and Ohhhhh how NOW I miss those days of laying in the pool without a care in the world. House was cleaned, lawn was tended to, couldn't drive anywhere anyways so no errands could be run by me, kids were always squared away.....doesn't sound too bad anymore :) Go figure!! Very happy here in southeast Texas though!!! Bummed we missed the reunion and will have to try to shoot for the next one. Boys baseball world series conflicted with the last one. it's been fun to reconnect with several of you on facebook and would love to reconnect with several more!!! Doc...Ellen...ya out there??

You old guys remember that week. Just like to say Hello to all and if you remember during our many poker games that girl that called me up on Sadie Hawkins day to propose... hell I had to marry her then. Still married, two boys, still playing golf and still with the government.

Hey Y'all! Was in Taif from 82-84 Dhahran 84-85 Kamis 85-86. I miss those times. I live in Suwanee Ga., just out side of Atlanta. Been here since I left SA. Nicholas my oldest (was 2 when we went to Taif) is 28 now works in application support for a computer company. Christopher was born between Taif and Dhahran is finishing his Masters. Their mother (my ex) Jeffrey lives in Athens Greece works with the State Department in the Embassy. I think she is planning to retire there. I'm A Systems Manager for a Bank financial processing company. I got all my pilot tickets in the late 90's. I used to fly a little  for the company I work for part time but we were bought a few years back and that ended. Also flew a little frieght part time but work got in the way of the part time flying so now I fly for the Civil Air Patrol doing all kind of fun stuff.  I will be at the next reunion! I'd love to hear from anyone from those places.

Best and warmest regards to all you Peace Sun survivors..!!

I am now a retread, and working in Riyad for Alsalam. Hope to run out the clock here and then retire to sailing the winters in the Carib, and summering at home...

Daniel and Chris are all grown up. Chris is an engineer for a French Canadian company. Building skyscrapers and such... Daniel is soon to be working on his Doctorate in Journalism.

I became the manager of maintenance in Boston for North American airlines... then ended up as the George Bush campaign chief of maintenance as he ran for president in 2000... then flying all the time as the flight mechanic on 757 and 767 aircraft... gone all the time, my marrige ended...

Became the production supervisor of USAirways 767 and 757 heavy checks in Charlotte, NC. Then 911 put us all on the street...

Back to flying as a rep with North American... after months of flying our troops from Shannon Ireland to Kuwait, and seeing all the American flag draped caskets.. I threw in the towel. Young men my boys age, dying needlessly... and I helped put the idiot in office... irony in it's purest form...

Started a business called SmokeMaster Products, and we manufacture gourmet BBQ sauces out of St. Augustine, Florida. Business is self sufficient, so why not one more throw at the middle east... so here I am...

New wonderful wife, a chance to travel this Earth some more, and son's that turned out just fine.

Now it's my turn to slow down and enjoy life...

Best regards to all... drop us a note.

Update appears due - Daharan 82 - 83, Khamis 83 -87.
We have been living for the last 15 years in our log home on top of a mountain in Southern Oregon.  We are selling it (bad timing) to pursue a new adventure.  We have taken up sailing.  We are contemplating retirement and living on a sailboat in the Sea of Cortez.  The boys are both married to great girls.  Michael and his wife are into horses instead of kids.  Andy and his wife have 2, a boy 6yrs and a girl 2 yrs.  Although we can't believe we could be old enough to have grandkids! We will always be coming back here from the Sea of Cortez or wherever we end up during hurricane season, to spend time with them.  We would love to hear from you all.

Wow!  Talk about a trip down memory lane.  Thanks to Steve and Amy Rowe for sending me to this site.  How marvelous to see many familiar names and faces from those crazy days.  Dhahran, '82-'83, Khamis '83-'85.  I lost Dana in '91 to cancer.  Our son Brian is now 24 and off to law school in Oregon.  I'm in Phoenix and have been since leaving KSA.

I subsequently transferred to the Parsons Corp. upon PSG's demobilization and am currently manager of contracting for Parsons at the Yanbu Industrial City in support of Royal Commission engineering, construction and O&M projects. Whats to say... My favorite words now are 'huh' and 'speak up'... I wonder why... In August of 2006 I went to my 25th class reunion and met THE most wonderful woman (my old locker mate Gretchen)... Our first real date ended up in a rollover accident on the freeway... I tried to be superman and hold the roof from caving in on our heads and as a result have lost a portion of the use of my right arm due to nerve damage... my guitars sit idle now, but I'm OK with that - it could have been much worse... Came back from Dhahran FTC (91-00) and tried to make a go at a liquor/grocery/deli/pizzeria... I wont go into the sorrid details but lets just say the store went under and Stacey is now living in Colorado somewhere... The boys are here with me... Currently living in Grand Junction, Michigan and working at Palisades Nuclear Generating Station as an Auxiliary Operator. If you fear for your safety now, let me just say that Richard and Ron are now DRIVING... Love to hear from everyone!

Left MDS Riyadh 1980something, moved aboard a sailboat in Hawaii for a year. Took a job with GE Peace Shield in Saudi for three years and REALLY saw the Kingdom as well as meeting Nurse Lyn, now my wife. Lyn & I left Saudi together and moved aboard Enterprise, a 46’ sloop that we sailed as far north as Charleston and south to the Bahamas, Caribbean, and rivers of South America. Traded Enterprise for the RV life and explored some of the states. Spent two years dividing time between the RV and our houseboat in Kentucky. Currently moving into a townhouse in Rockport, TX. Now 70 and ageing fast: knees hurt, back hurts, elbows hurt, stomach hurts, eye lenses sucked out and replaced, hair all gone, eyes get tired, politics piss me off . . . but life is good.

Hi to all from Tiaf. Cathy and I were there from 82-86. I worked in QA. Left Tiaf and went back to Mc Donnell Douglas as FSE in Florida. That lasted two years and then back to St Louis for perm. assignment in Quality Engineering. Several years later Cathy and I moved to Phoenix, AZ. with a job transfer. worked there for several years and retired in 2004. Got tired of the hot summers so we sold our house and now live full time in a 40 foot diesel pusher motor home. Spend our winters here in Casa Grande, AZ. and our summers where ever we want to! Great life. This year will leave here May and get to GA. for a rally for the month of June and then in July start up the East coast for maine and lobsters. Hello to everyone! I was very excited to learn about this website and finally get a chance to see how my fellow coworkers and friends were doing. Things with me are great! I've been through a few changes, divorced and getting remarried in August. My kids are young women now, and one is married. I'm still working on aircraft at Andrews Air Force Base. After returning from Dhahran in Dec. 1986, we moved to St. Louis until 1991. Steve left MDC to join Boeing and the new 777 airplane program in Seattle (really Everett), WA. He helped with the MDC/Boeing merger in 1997-1998 giving him 25 years of service and going. The girls are grown but unmarried. Jackie graduated from college in 2003, is pursuing an MBA, and works for Boeing. Emily is in her last quarter of college where she will graduate with a BS degree in engineering, and she works for Boeing too. Rosalee went back to school and graduated top of the class and student of the year in 2006, with a degree in finance. She is now seeking employment in the field of finance as well as looking at Boeing for employment. Steve has played a vital role in establishing the global production systems for the newest 787 airplane program and not that this is hard enough, he did it while pursuing a doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership. He is in the final stages of writing his dissertation and it won’t be long before we are calling him Dr. Steve. If you are ever so inclined to get in touch, drop us a line here and we’ll get back with you. We will forward this site onto Jack and Heather Evans so you can contact them as well.

Cecil suffered stroke in 2000 and had to retire from his job at Robins AFB. He recovered from the stroke but not fully. Have fun at the reunion ... we will not be attending.

We spent ten years living in Riyadh, Dhahran and Khamis. I also managed to have a baby each time that we changed cities. Michelle is 11, Monica is 9, and Marshall is 4. We returned to the states for two years, living in Florida and South Carolina. We then returned to Riyadh last year. My husband, David, is still there and the kids and I are in Seneca, South Carolina. We love it here in Seneca.

Khamis Mushayt 96-01. Wish we could join everyone at the KSA reunion, but we already have plans to join friends in Madrid, Spain, for a Christmas/New Years reunion. When I was in the magic kingdom, I never would have believed I would miss the place. Mostly miss the expat community, but really miss those Red Sea trips alot too. Cynthia and I are both cancer survivors, five years for me and one year for her. We're living in Navarre, Florida, close to Hurlburt Field. I'm working part-time in civil service, but if the right opportunity comes along, I'll be gone; tired of the hurricanes. Hope everyone has a great reunion.

Hi! Kim & Valerie Phillips were in Dhahran from '82-87; we llived at MD-3 and MD-9. Kim played on the softball team and a lot of tennis. Valerie wrote the Dhahran Digest newsletter and taught tap & ballet dancing lessons. Ring any bells? Our son, Jess was born in 1984; and after coming back to Kaysville, Utah we had Eric, Lonn and Amy. Kim followed through on his plan to build his own house, which we still live in. He works for the Salt Lake Post Office in technical support. His hip replacement surgery that has slowed his tennis game down a bit. Valerie worked part-time as a news reporter, and has spent the last 6 years as food editor for the daily paper, The Deseret Morning News. We'd love to hear from anyone who might remember us - and Val especially wants to hear from some of those kids in my dance classes! Kim and Valerie Phillips

We left St. Augustine, FL 3 years ago and bought 5 acres in the country. Greg is now in computer automations with the FAA, I (Kelly) teach high school chemistry, Brandon is in 8th grade and towers above me and Parker is in 6th. Still run into a lot of the old Khamis'ers, especially the Brits who were all moved up here about 18 months ago (I think). We now have 2 kids: Kalia, 5 (about to start Kg), and Harrison, 1. Believe it or not, I'm still playing in a band (or 2) with Dave Fuglie who lives not too far from me here. KhamiStock relocated? Wish we could make it this summer, but this blasted Aramco school calendar runs through the end of June... Many thanks to those putting this on and maintaining this website. Personnel Administrator Served in Saudi with 2nd wife Mhelly (Filapino) that is probably more rememorable that I ever was. I did serve as softball commissioner and kids bowling league honcho during off duty hours. I'd sure like to see a list of EVERYONE's name and the operating bases they served at listed as below. Ken (Dick) Bower Taif Mar82- Sep 85 Jeddah Sep 85-Dec 86 As the years fade, so do the names I fear but when we can associate the names and dates served, sometimes the faces partially reappear. btw, I am now fully retired and living in Chiayaphum Thailand (some 5 hrs. north of BKK) with my present wife of 11+ years. Danielle here, writing for Felix and Marcia (since they haven't quite figured out that it is the 21st century and hence, they do not own a computer or know how to work one!). They are doing great! They both live in Boerne, Tx. Mom's (Marcia) retired, but Dad (Felix) got sick of retired life and went back to work for Mooney Aircraft (and Mom's glad he went back to work!) They have 9 grandchildren. For those who knew me as a teenager, I am now married, living in Phoenix, my husband and I are both high school teachers and we are expecting our first child (I'm 3 months pregnant!). I believe Mom and Dad are going to make it to the reunion; I'd like to go too since I met so many wonderful people in Taif. If you'd like to get in touch with Felix and Marcia, you'd have to email me but I'll get the message to them.

Hi everyone! We moved back to St. Louis from Khamis in 11/96. January of 2001 we both quit our jobs, packed up and moved to Jackman, Maine. We're still here. We opened a "Mom and Pop" Convenience store - named it "B & R's MOOSE MART". We sell gas, groceries, bait, clothing, food in the deli and make the best darn Pizza around!! Quite a difference from Grouper at the Red Sea!! We probably won't be able to make it to the reunion, having the store, but welcome anyone up here for some good food, fun times and beautiful country. Naomi is 20 now and finishing her Sophmore year in college for Nursing. She also got married December '05. Although only 17, Ben was just sworn in last week for the Maine Army National Guard. He will attend College for 4 years after he graduates High School in 07. He will be an officer when graduating college (hopefully!) and wants to do MP or some line of Law Enforcement. He still has 5 more years to decide. Well, have a GREAT REUNION and please keep in touch!! Really miss all the good times from Khamis, but thank God there's always memories!! Beth

Can't believe that I have spent 22 years on the RSAF F-15 Programs. 3 1/2 years Dhahran, 5 1/2 years Taif, 2 years Riyadh, and 880,000 Frequent Flyer Miles later, they are still paying my salary. Currently with Boeing in St. Louis on the new RSAF F-15C DMT Flight Simulator. I travel there about every other month on my site visits. It's not that I like it so much, but I think that I am the only one left that is willing to go! Customs is done by X-ray now......

I'm over here in UAE doing the Lockheed Martin thing with the F-16's after a year in Iraq with AAI Corp. on UAV's (that really sucked, but the money was great, would not do it again). Henrietta is still my wife with 8 year old Matthew in Philadelphia. We have a house in Philly. She's getting her DR., I guess a masters is not enough for her. I finished my degree finally. I still lift weights and am in about the same & shape as I was in Saudi.

We were in Khamis from 93-02. Scott is working at Crestview Aerospace moding C130's to U130 gunships with Boeing, and Debbie is working as a budget analyst for the county government. Some of you will know my dear husband Larry, sometimes affectionately known as "big Larry." Sadly Larry passed away on 21st January 2006. He fought a hard battle with lung cancer that was diagnosed a year before. It was very sad to watch this sweet man who was larger than life, just fade away to a shadow of himself. He never complained, just did everything asked of him and he had hopes of recovery till the last 3 weeks. I remember him as you will, a man who always put others before himself. Such a loss is very difficult to bear but less difficult when I share. Love to all who loved Larry, Ursula
